reimagine yoga ·
dear community -
what if yoga didn’t look like this?
what if yoga didn’t look like beautiful sequences of asanas strung together? what if yoga didn’t look like group practices in studios with intricate playlists? what if yoga didn’t provide physical strength or flexibility? what if yoga didn’t happen on the four corners of your mat?
would you still practice yoga?
although all the above are often pieces of our yoga journeys, this idea was seeded during my 300 hour yoga teacher training with vira bhava yoga and expanded upon as i continued to remember the vast beauty of all that it is and always was to me.
in “bringing yoga to life,” donna farhi shares that the practice of yoga is -
“the opening of the heart so that we have the capacity to feel tenderness, joy and sorrow without shutting down. it is the opening of
the mind to an awareness that encompasses rather than excludes. it is the startling and immediate recognition of our basic sameness. it is the practice of observing clearly, listening acutely and skillfully responding to the moment with all the compassion we can muster. and it is a homecoming within the body for it is only here that we can do all of these things.”
knowing this, can you envision how you can embody the practice of yoga anywhere, at any moment? the gift of our formal practices - wherever and however they take place -is that they give little glimpses of insight to how we can take all that we discover beyond our mats and into our world.
because in reality -
anything done with intention and devotion can be considered
a form of yoga.
curious about what yoga could look like for you?
just let me know - i’d be honored to support your inquiry. ♡
from my heart to yours,
Lo
